Guys i'm new to rooting here. I'll probably be asking a quite a few questions before i start in the next few weeks. Just want to make sure i'm prepared. Not only do i plan to root but i plan to either flash MIUI or cyano but first things first.
What i have now:
HTC Incredible with 2.2 (Froyo)
1. Is it easy to get back to exactly the state my phone is now? I've seen a variety of backup options but just not sure of the differences. Do you just create a ROM of your current setup before you start and if your not happy you flash the backup ROM to your phone? If not an explanation would be appreciated?
2. After i flash the custom ROM is easy to get all my apps and settings back?
Don't hesitate to post any additional info you think i need to be aware of before i start.
An Aside : (Not needed for my questions).
I have been pretty frustrated with the android landscape. You can't rely on any of the manufacturers updating their phones long term and if you do get the update you won't get it until months later. My Incredible isn't that old and should be updated at least for the life of the contract of the phone (at least 2 years). Android phones seem to be appliances rather than computers. Thats why i'm trying out rooting/moding to see if i'm happy. Granted you "shouldn't" have to root to be able to get the latest updates. Hopefully after i flash the custom rom i will be very happy.
