Root New to rooting

I have the HTC one m8 and I just recently rooted it. This is my first time rooting a device and I'm not sure where to start making the tweeks. Any advice

First we need a little info:
what carrier are you on?
did you flash a custom recovery?
do you have Super User installed yet?

Once we have a little more info I think we can get you moving along.

I am on at&t I didn't flash a custom recovery. And I did dl the super user

Go here for the ATT TWRP recovery:
Techerrata Downloads - Browsing m8

Download the last one 2.7.1.0.

Download that and place it in the SDK / Mini-ADB folder you created to unlock the bootloader.

Boot your phone to Fastboot just like you did when you unlocked.

Open a command window from your Mini-ADB folder (hold shift and right click, select "Open command window here")

Type in: fastboot devices <press Enter>
You should see your device listed.

Next type in: fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.7.1.0-m8.img
<press Enter>

Should flash pretty quick, try that out and let us know how it goes.
