New to the Volt. Can I root it?

I am moving from the Prevail on Boost to the LG Volt. Planed on it last week but waiting for the sale price of 39.00, so will get this week.

Can I root it? And if so what are the advantages. I did root the Prevail.

Yes... How depends on what software version you are on (zv3 or zv4). Advantages are the usual benefits of rooting (remove bloat and unneeded stock apps, interface and performance tweaks, etc), restore ability for third party apps to write to the SD card. Also being able to flash cwm recovery.

I love how he has no idea what root is, and how he can benefit from it, but he wan't to know if he can do it and how.

That is the WRONG ORDER. This is why we have people who come back to the forums because they broke their phone after rooting and have no idea how to fix it.

Actually he did mention that he rooted his previous phone, and it's as simple as reading, the instructions are already all there from the multiple times people ask. I'm sure if this guy has a question on how to root it's already been answered.

Just talked my buddy into getting a Volt.. His was z3 out of the box, and he updated within an hour of activation. So please towelroot before accepting an update!!! My buddy got 2 full cigarette packs thrown at his head.

Thank you all for your kind and polite response. Some of us have the smarts to read directions and root phones etc, but are not much into playing with them. We just want to know how to make them more usable etc, and to remove what we do not want.

Not coming to this forum very much I am not to hot at navigating it, and this was a part of the forum I had not been to.

But thank you. I am sure with the way you welcome the un-elite more folks will find this forum and feel welcome and stick around.

After all should "we" not all be he to help rather then criticize. Maybe even teach, or is it more fun for you not to?

I will always be more willing to ask a stupid question to avoid doing a stupid thing. Can you say the same?

Or if you don't know wqhat you are doing do you just charge ahead without finding out what you are doing first?

Just my thoughts... Take em, or leave em...
