Help New triumphs and autofocus

So yeah, can anyone tell me if the newer triumphs have autofocus working? I mean mine works. Its just that when the camera tries to motor in and out, it hits the clear cover over the camera and locks out of focus. The only reason I haven't asked sooner is because I bought my triumph the day they came out and along with the audio dropping in volume, this is the only other problem I've had. Its been a lil workhorse. I guess the bottom line is, should I call vm or just stfu and keep what I have. Thoughts?

I'm pretty sure that is a problem with most phones. My MT does the same thing at times, same with my MT4GS. I think it's more when taking close ups it will focus then unfocus. I don't know why but it does. And since the MT doesn't have a macro mode (I don't think) there isn't much you can do.

Its definitely a hardware prob though because u can hear it hitting the clear cover. Its like it doesn't have enough room to zoom out and refocus.

I don't think so. I can hear clicking on pretty much any phone with an autofocusing camera. I believe what you are hearing is just the gears clicking. In darker areas it seems to be louder. I highly doubt it's a hardware problem, because I had the same thing happen on my OV (when I had it), my MT, and my MT4GS. So unless all of them had problems I think it is normal. And is it all the time or on closeups (macros)?

If the autofocus is on, no matter the distance, it will zoom out, click against the dust cover and stop focussing. I just tried it and I can see and feel it hitting the cover. I wish I could take that cover off to be 100% about it.

So it never focuses? Well if it never focuses then that may be a problem with yours since my MT only had problems focusing on macro shots. Taking pictures from further away it had no problems. Are you running a custom rom?

Yeah cm7 reloaded. It wont focus on any rom that I've ever ran and I've ran em all lol. In order to take pics I have to turn off autofocus or switch it to infinity.

Hmmm then that may be a problem the camera aperture on your phone if it doesn't work on any rom. What about when taking videos? Does it focus then?

Nope. Has to be off/infinity on video mode too. I better send this piece back huh?

Yea that sounds like it's a problem with the camera if it never focuses with autofocus. So might as well get a replacement before it's too late. And if your replacement has problems too you can always get another replacement.

What's the process for doing that and is there a thread here dedicated to that purpose? If not maybe I can make one when I return mine to document every step of the process.

Mine auto focuses fine... it makes all those noises but it does focus. (Still not good up close because of light sensor being crap and the pictures turning out black fro
The shadow of the phone)

Maybe ill take some pics, videos and post em up here. Then people can see what I'm talking about.

My Triumph takes GREAT pics...I have a standard non rooted phone..I did get a different camera app. Auto focus works fine..no complaints.

My first Triumph had a broken camera. (The autofocus did not work what so ever.)

So for anyone who's interested I requested my new triumph today. I also asked for a class a device which they have in stock now. So if u were waiting on that theyre in stock now so go ahead and get that faulty triumph replaced before its too late. I'll let u guys know how the new one fairs.

i used miui right away and my camera doesnt focus it just goes to macro distance right away and clicks and only things RIGHT in front of the phone are in focus...... is it an miui problem? should i try stock and see if it works?
