HTC already confirmed screen flicker would not be solved in this update but they are working on it for a future update.
Was discussed on XDA
noob question what dose New hboot mean ?
This is off the site i posted above:
The flickering of the display is not resolved immediately after performing the update. The voltage is gradually correct polarity. The correction can take depending on the use of up to 14 days. To speed up the process, you can disable the timeout and adjust the display brightness temporarily to 100%. The process takes only a few hours then.
Could be promising.

Update - 2 May...
Just had a call from Robert Collins at HTC. Apparently they know what's causing it and are working on a fix. 1.29 is not an attempt at fixing the flicker but another update is coming soon. I let them know about the Mandarin or Cantonese text in the French locale in 1.29 yesterday (posted by Simone on here) and they have passed this on for correction. I also mentioned the rapid fluctuation in CPU frequency when the ONDEMAND governor is used and they ate looking at that too.
They will let me know when there is more to tell.
As far as updates go, I have returned my branded Tmo device and gone for an unbranded device. Tmo said to me to expect 1.28 by the end of May, where that leaves Tmo branded owners for 1.29 and beyond I don't know but it seems pretty hopeless for Tmo owners right now. I would personally return any device eligible for return to Tmo, then walk into carphone warehouse and they'll match what ever deal you were on with Tmo and give you an unbranded phone. I should add that this last part is my advice and is not something HTC have said.

- New HBOOT: 0.95, New Radio: 1.1204.105.14, Kernel version: 2.6.39.4-gc9932b1
- A german site (android-hilfe.de) is claiming any screen flickering should resolve itself within two weeks of using this update, apparently some voltage values were changed in the update. They report you're able to speed up this process by manually setting brightness to 100%.
- Some are reporting much less screen flickering right after installing the update
- The SD card storage issue (disappearing empty disk space) appears resolved for some
- The bug that caused taiwanese text to be shown on the task management screen in the french locale has been resolved
- Wifi issues (related to both signal strength and wifi seemingly disabling itself) a lot of us are suffering by have unfortunately not been resolved
- Battery reporting (or calibration) is reported to be affected by the update in some way or the other
- Multitasking improved; most apps, including the browser, now stay open after having been sent to background
There's another update (1.32.401.00) on the way apparently: HTC Update: Version 1.32.401.00 | HTC One X
If that's the case, top marks to HTC for attempting to fix the issues so quickly.

looks like update 1.32.401.00 might finally put the tegra 3 power management software in the right place.
or has this already been done and i missed it...
Didn't HTC & Mike1986 confirm that there wasn't actually an issue with the Tegra power management stuff? It was just tech sites claiming there were issues?
Just checked on my unbranded UK Orange phone and it is now downloading 1.29.401.11!
