New update message?

I tapped on "Settings - System Update - Check New" for no particular reason. To my surprise, I got the attached message " Download Unsucessful" My question is twofold. 1) Does anyone else get the same message and 2) What is the download. I haven't read about any more updates until Lollipop. Does anyone know of any other updates coming?

Does this appear every time? Does the phone even try to connect to the server to check for any updates?

I have seen this once but I thought it may have been something old and I did not dismiss it, I know for mine it does not happen any more!

My newly activated M8 had issues updating on the first day. kept giving 'Download failed error 500'. finally went through last night around 11PM.

FYI it won't download over 4G. or 3G. it will sit at 0% and eventually time out. it needs Wifi to work. and you have to reboot to get it to attempt again.

Since my M8 came with 4.4.2 it happened to be an update to 4.4.4, and adding some HTC Eye something. it's supposed to get Lollipop in January.
