Hi. I am new here. I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 1 with Android 4.0.4 - just hoping to use it better. Got a few apps Going but a bit worried about catching some nasty stuff. I run Avast but not convinced i need to. I understand
Android is unix based? Got an issue with Gmail, when i get msg my Note keeps beeping til i read it. Dont know how to stop it. Still learning tho. Dave

Welcome to the forums Dave

Hopefully we can help you get more acquainted with your device. And you can turn off sound notifications in Gmail in the settings. Otherwise as long as you stick with the play store for apps you shouldn't have to worry about virus's.
