New Verizon Customers (left Sprint)

I had posted on here before a few months back about how horrible our Sprint service was. I had complained for around 5 months with no help from Sprint.

I'm very happy to say; we switched to Verizon at the end of April. Our phone service is a 15 out of 10! I cannot believe the difference. Our messages go through immediately, we receive all phone calls and we can make phone calls anywhere. We use wifi whenever possible (and it's all over the place) so we haven't come close to the 4G that we are allowed (and we have 4 phones for the record) per month. There is absolutely no comparison between the 2 carriers.

I just cannot express how happy we all are. If anyone on here is hesitant to change, don't be. There are much better phone service choices out there over Sprint. We are all just flabbergasted at the difference.

One happy broad,
MsScarlett :D

The funny part about this as I mentioned in many post before it all depends on where you live, I have a friend that lives in New York city and he was on Verizon and change to them from TMobile, on advice from many, he finally made the switch and for about 6 months he could not stop complaining how the service on Verizon was very spotty and the customer service was the worst. Now guess what he switched to Sprint and loves it, go figure, so like I say to many, it all depends on here you live, the phone you buy and what your needs are. I am truly happy you are very happy with their service and it is nice to see it worked out for you. Sometimes it does and sometimes it does not, each case is different. Cheers.!! :beerglass:

Yes I remember when we switched from Alltel to Verizon, and stopped having to tell people as quickly as possible when they called us at the house to call the house phone, prior to the call dropping. Plus the phone selection was night and day! While Verizon is very expensive, and can be very frustrating to endure their hardware and update release glacial pace, their coverage, especially in the rural areas and the south is unbeatable.

Nail on the head DonB. It doesn't matter how good your network is if there are millions of people using that network at the same time. I converted from Sprint also, and while most of my issues were signal related, I wasn't getting very good customer service either. Since joining Verizon, both problems seem to be polar opposites. The data issue are however, more than likely, a combination of Verizon's better network and the fact that all four major carriers cover most of my home area. Which means not everyone is on Verizon. It's more spread out.

Haha, I remember your elation! I switched from a useless Sprint network to a blazing fast Verizon LTE network last fall and still can't believe how long I put up with the crappy Sprint network!

Thanks for posting your experience re: leaving Sprint for Verizon MsScarlett. I've been a Sprint customer for over 10 years. The voice and data coverage used to be acceptable to decent when I considered the unlimited plans and pricing. Over the past 8 months I've seen a significant decrease in quality where I live (Sacramento, CA area). Calls are routinely dropped mid conversation pretty much daily now and I miss calls regularly with the phone never ringing and a voicemail popping up later. The data coverage is dismal. 3G speeds are at the point where it takes 30 seconds to update twitter or do a Google search... even timing out with a network connection lost message displayed. 4G is spotty and unreliable. I'm not sure if it's the addition of the iPhone customers or the "Network Vision" upgrade plan that has the coverage here so much worse than it was less than a year ago.

Either way I've been trying to decide if I should wait for Sprint to finish the network upgrade (as all the customer service reps and techs have been telling me to do for months) or jump to another carrier and suffer the ETF penalty. Reading your post has settled it for me. I'm willing to pay a bit more to receive reliable and consistent coverage.

If you renewed your contract with Sprint before September I'd last year, your etf is only 200 dollars for a smartphone. Assuming you have a somewhat recent phone, you should be able to sell it on craigslist for enough to cover most, if not all of the etf.

Thanks for the recco. Unfortunately, I upgraded in September and face the higher ETF but selling my phone will help offset a big portion of my remaining amount. I haven't given up on arguing for a reduction or waiver of the ETF if I'm willing to spend the time on the phone through layers at Sprint. While I will complain about Sprint's current network status in my area, I will always give them good marks on customer service. The reps and techs have always been very helpful.
