New YouTube app is just awesome. Can't wait until is it modded/inverted.
If you haven't tried the NEW YouTube please test it out. I just love how you can minimize a video and still be able to browse the app at the same time. It has a built-in float player.

Play store released the update today. I'm loving how you can minimize the video into its own floating window and then go surf for other vids while the vid is still playing. Great update. :D

my only complaint is the white backgrounds. I wish they would give us the option of using a grey or black background. the app isn't color blind friendly.

I download directly from their website, never had a problem.

yep i got it. I feel stupid, been trying for the longest time to figure out where their links were. never thought about clicking the first word before the version number lol.:pcguru:

funny we both have the same phone and tablet.. great minds...

Anyone else having issues where the search bar does not show up when opening the application?

If i click on a video then go back to the main screen the search bar at the top shows up.

I removed the application using titanium backup and reinstalled from the playstore with the same results.

hmm you're right, there isn't any search bar. I didn't notice that last night. apparently Google has a glitch lol

I have the same issue from when I downloaded youtube. If you long press the keyboard button like you do to get to Google now, you will be able to type invisibly and then the search bar will show. I've looked everywhere I found no fix. Hopefully the next update will fix it.

GT, Just messaged you about flashplayer in another post and you mentioned you didn't have it installed. Forgive my ignorance, but how are you able to view Youtube video? I can't (even after installing flash) and would love to know how do. I have been using Firefox. Is that the problem?

Thanks again.....Tom

Hmmm. That's strange. I've been able to view youtube videos since the day I purchased the phone through the youtube app. The browser has nothing to do with it. Every Android phone can view youtube videos through the youtube app.

I really have no solution for you on this one lol. It's not something I've encountered on any phone. Hopefully someone can shed some light that may know something about this.

OK and thanks for the reply,
Youtube and any other video on the web has never worked for me on this phone so I tried to update to the latest Youtube app you referred to above and keep getting this error message after downloading:
"Package file was not signed correctly. Uninstall the previous copy of the app and try again".
I'm using your excellent Katanav3 Rom. Any thoughts as to what I can do.

Thanks again......Tom

I flashed the newest Adobe flash app that's sticky'd at the top of this forum and with the metro stock browser I can watch just about every flash video on the browser on any page. Did you d/l the Adobe air app in the market? I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure you need both apps to get fully functioning flash abilities with the browser.

Katana is using a custom youtube app by Team Blackout. You would need to remove the app with a file explorer that has root access like ES file exp or Root exp. Then go into recovery and wipe cache and dalvik cache. After that you can install the youtube app from the market.

Not sure if I'm missing anything since I'm not using Katana anymore. I'm currently using Samurai rom which updates to all the latest versions of installed apps automatically.

I just checked to see what happens and I'm able to watch youtube videos in Dolphin browser without having flash installed or anything else.

Screen shot of it in action...

Gt, Thanks again. I was able to uninstall Team Blackout YouTube and went into recovery and wiped cache and dalvik cache. I downloaded Dolphin browser and still can't see any video and also installed the new version of YouTube and no luck. Frustrated as hell with this.:banghead:

Guess I'll try your Samurai Rom and hope for the best. Hope to get to it over the weekend. I'll let you know how it worked out.

Thanks again.............Tom

Before any drastic measures like installing a new rom, check the email your phone is linked to.

It's sounding to me like it can be an issue with the gmail account your phone is linked to since all google products on your phone are linked to whatever gmail you signed in under.

Try opening the youtube app and then click the phone's menu button and click on sign out then exit the app. Now click on menu button again then go to manage apps and scroll down to youtube app and clear data & clear cache. Reboot your phone, then open the youtube app and sign in with the same gmail that your phone is linked to. Hopefully this works, but I think the issue has to do with the gmail account (I could be wrong lol).
