NEW yOUTUBE APP ANNOUNCED, question?

I dont beleive you can delete youtube since its a system file, you should just be able to download it and it will replace the original one
 
New YouTube App? Is it some sort of viewer or something? This isn't an update to the embedded player, right?
 
It wont show up as an update. It is a new app. Once you install it will replace the old one.

And yes, it is made by google.
 
It's only for 2.2 and you can download it from the market and it replaces the one on your phone. Look for the youtube app with google as the developer. Also, it is completely awesome.
 
What the heck? After downloading i have noticed the share button is gone. We cant share videos to twitter or facebook anymore with the new app? Anyone got a clue on this?
 
You can, but for some reason, you can only share when the video is in portrait mode is seems. Click the 'more' bit and the 'share' option is displayed.
 
This new app is simply AWESOME. I can't think of a single way to improve and it and the UI is gorgeous. Portrait showing all of the video details and landscape showing the full video is genius.
 
Damn, I thought you guys were just over reacting when I stumbled on this thread. Then I searched for the new app and installed it on my Droid.

Then my mind was blown.

This has to be the most polished app I've seen on Android so far. I didn't know my Droid was capable of playing HQ vids in portrait mode while scrolling/swiping through all the related vids and comments. Going from portrait to landscape and back doesn't stutter the playback AT ALL. Even moving the progress slider to different time points in the vid yielded instant playback at that point, just as fast as my desktop. It even seemed to fix the Youtube widget that NEVER showed/updated the featured vids and would become unresponsive when I tried to open Youtube through the widget.

Excellent work Google. Now run the Navigation app through the same ringer. I want new voices and traffic updates NAO.
 
While it is a huge improvement from the previous version, I cannot seem to find a way to browse through the "Most Viewed" of the day, "Most Popular" videos of the day. Am I missing something?
 
Is there an alternative download. youtube apps are not available in the market in Belgium because of a argument with the government.

I downloaded the last one via megaupload. I found it on appbrain, but it just redirects me to the Market.
 
You'll either need to wait for your carrier to update your device to 2.2, or root and install a custom ROM. In your phone's section on this website look to see if there is a subforum dedicated to rooting - that'd be the place to start looking for how to do it :)
