Help New Zenfone, Same OS Drain and Sim card error

Foobunny

Newbie
I replaced my Asus Zenfone 2 with a Zenfone 3 due to the Z2 having an OS battery useage of 130%. The battery drained faster than I could charge it. This happened directly after an OS update.

The Z3 is only about 2 months old. An OS update was passed on the phone and immediately it no longer will ready any SIM cards, and the OS has begun climbing in battery usage percentage. Currently at 18% and climbing.

Other than calling it $200 wasted, what can I try to get the phone working before I give up and go on a contract to get a decent phone?

Have you tried a factory reset. This will sometimes clear up data corruption from OTA updates.
Did the problems occur before the update?
Do you still have the Z2?

The Zenfone is a great device with awesome support. We should be able to get it sorted.

I have done factory reset, cleared cache and did recovery mode. I do still have the Z2. I tired for several days to fix the Z2 (and asked about it's problems here as well) with no luck. It still works but cannot hold charge due to the OS% used being above 150% now.

The z3 did NOT have any problems just before the update 2 days ago. Immediately following the update is when the sim card was no longer recognized (sim works in other phones) and OS battery usage began to climb.

The wifi now no longer wants to connect. Honestly, as much as I liked the size and use of the zenfone lines, I am going to return this to Asus and never buy one of their phones again. This is absolutely ridiculous.
