Newb intro

Hey guys! If you didn't guess, my name is Ryan. I just got my first smart phone, and I'm in LOVE with it! I've had it for about 3 hours, and have been on it since it charged up. I just switched to AT&T from Verizon, because of the price, and hooked myself up with the Atrix 4g. It was a toss up between this and the Infused, but the reviews pushed me this way.

I'm not a very tech savvy person, I'm more of a car guy. I'm most excited about the apps I can use with my car.

The thing I want to find next is a navigation app (GPS) that isnt at&t. I don't like the idea of spending $10 a month for it when I can go buy a GPS for $100. That's 10 months worth and I have a 2 year contract.

Like I said, I'm not very tech savvy (But I'm not new to forums by any means), so I'll be doing a lot of research.

Welcome to Android Forums!

If you want a Nav app, you should look at google maps navigation. You may not have an icon for it in your app drawer, but you can access it through maps. Choose a destination location and click on it. From there choose directions and if you select driving directions, the nav app launches.

Best part, it's free.

Awesome! I think I saw that. It's just called 'maps'? I just assumed that was the at&t one. Only having the phone for a few hours, I haven't gotten all over in it yet. :P

Thanks!

Maps with the yellow map icon is Google Maps, better than any AT&T stuff.

Well, At&t gave me nothing but problems with our inernet, and I had no desire to deal with their customer service, so I switched to sprint. I now have the EVO 4G. I like it. The atrix had more options to customize, but the evo has a bigger screen. So far so good, just waiting till I can root it!
