Newb to rooting, need step by step instructions

Hello everyone, im unfortunetely stuck with a verizon G Nex, I bought this phone specifically over the SIII because i had heard the G Nex would be getting its update to jelly bean first, and to my horror i realized that Verizon is probably holding the update back.

I want jelly bean, i have never rooted a phone or installed a rom. What is the best most stable one out there, and i need step by step instructions on how to do it

You probably have no reason to root if you just want JB. Your phone will get it pretty soon.

If you really want to root for other reasons, plenty of info is available. Check the subforum for your phone. Google search is your friend. Do a lot of reading. Make sure you understand why you're doing it, the exact steps and terminology, and have a recovery plan and backups in case things go bad. Nobody likes to bail out a n00b because he simply failed to do his homework.
