Help newbie needs help please...

we have got a samsung galaxy s only 3 weeks old but tonite when we go on to the menu screen and press the market button the screen goes white then returns to the main menu screen...... every other button works fine we are lost without the market !!!! ive done a soft reset but still the same !! please help if you can
 
So essentially you can't enter market ever after restarting your phone. Am I right?

Killing the market process using a task manager using solves any errors, but since you have tried restarting your phone, that shouldn't matter.

Try uninstalling apps you have installed recently.
