Newbie needs HELP!! ..read receipts!

I have always been an iphone user and have just switched to an LG G2. I am very excited about this move but I am not sure I can live without read receipts. Having teenagers it is important so I know when or if my daughter reads my texts. Are you able to do this with LG G2 or is there an app? Can someone please help.....:mad:
 
Were you using imessages on the iphone?
That isnt strictly an SMS app, its an instant messenger which uses the internet and thats why it gives you live "feedback".
Unfortunately apple (being apple) dont make that app available on other devices so youll have to use another instant messaging (IM) app like Whatsapp, Hangouts, Kik, there are hundreds but the app has to be on both devices.

In the messaging app if you open Settings you should be able to tick the box for delivery reports. This will send back a message received notification IIRC. It does consume messaging allotments, so make sure you have unlimited messaging.:)

No, it's done at the carrier level. Once they have successfully sent the message to the recipient device it pings the sender back. They have to keep track of that anyway in case the recipient phone is turned off or otherwise out of service they can cache the messages until they can be sent.
 
I think it is just a delivery confirmation. No read notification that I know of. Unless someone know of an app, you would have to trust that once the message is delivered that it is read. Funky knows a lot more about the messaging apps than I do, so maybe something new has come out in the months since the thread was started that does read receipts.

I was on another board where someone was looking for the samething. Someone asked if the phone was rooted and the conversion ended. So I assumed that maybe there was something out there for rooted phones. One of the reasons I rooted my phone for.

Handcent is suppose to be able to do this. It says the other person doesnt have to have the app. Ive tried it but I guess I dont understand the settings in order to make it work.:(

I use WhatsApp with some people I know. This is a messaging app that shows whether or not someone else read the message (for non-group messages only). It only works with people who have this app, so you have to ensure the other people you are messaging also uses this app.
 
I use that to text people in Africa. I love everything about it. Just wish it worked on phones that dont have the app.

since there are alot of people looking for this kind off app im kinda surprised no one has come up with an app. Id pay for it so long as it worked with my phone.
 
Anyone know thing about Cyanogenmod v10.1 ?

I finally got an answer from the other board and the person suggested Cyanogenmod v10.1 . So I youtubed a review on it and in the video I did see a read receipt.

But im still not sure what it is or how to get it.
 
Can you link the YouTube review you saw? It's really the app, not the rom that supplies the read receipt.
