newbie needs help

Hello all, i purchased a samsung galaxy s2 but unfortaley its locked ive when i try to unlock it it this message comes up
could not acquire superuser access is your device rooted, ive tryed to download odin 3 on pc which for some reason i cant seem to do either any help would be great and much apericated thanks

Try a hard reset first, before you try to flash it.

Thanks for the reply i have done that it now regonises my network and number but service state is out of service

You probably bought a phone with a bad ESN, i.e. the phone was either stolen or the old user didn't pay their bill. You can contact your carrier to see if they can do anything, but normally they will never unlock a locked phone.
