Newbie question about Android SMS

When I had my old non-android phone I could go into the SMS app and write a message and there was an option to SAVE the sms message instead of sending it. Does the stock Android sms app have this feature and if so how do I use it?
Also, my old non-android phone used to have a "sent messages" folder that made a copy of every sms message I sent. Does the stock Android sms app have this feature and if so how do I use it?

And I don't recall having to activate my new android phone. What is activation for and how would I activate it?

If you compose but do not send an SMS message in the stock messaging app, it saves a draft copy which will be there the next time you open that thread ... and all messages are saved in threads between sender and receiver. There is a message/thread limit by default so if you exceed say 200 messages in a thread, the oldest will drop off, never to be seen again.

Welcome to the forums!!

I believe most SMS apps for android will save a message as a draft if you hit the back arrow while composing a message. I just tried it on my evo, saved the message as soon as I hit the back button.

Also messages are listed in a conversation style, where your sent messages are shown as well as the recipients messages.

The best bet is to call customer service for your carrier and tell them you need to activate a phone.

Edit: Luna ninja'd me! :D

activation...

to send SMS... you need to be on a cell network.. who's network?
they are the ones that you activate your android phone with.. so that you can use their network.

google voice... it does not do drafts ..
i type a message.. but need to jump out to look at other sms...
the message i was typing is lost.
