newbie questions about the GPS and notes

Shortly I'll be buying my first smart phone and using it on Verizon. The Note 2 is a tempting choice because of the hand writing abilities which might replace a paper notebook used at work. Since this will be my first smart phone there's plenty I don't know. Comments by experienced users on the following would be appreciated.

1. Is there a document or video that covers the hand writing features in detail?

2. Has anyone tested WIFI range? My Dell notebook computer can connect to wifi that's in a wood frame building 150' across open space. Do these smartphones have similar ability?

3. Can the GPS be used without paying Verizon a monthly service fee? Are there stand alone apps to display GPS output?

4. Is there an app that will let me take multiple photos of parts of a printed page, close up, then stitch them together for a finished scan that might rival a flat bed scanner at 300 dpi?

5. Is there an app for audio only recording for phone conversations or room audio?

6. Is there an ad blocker? When I open web pages on my home computer a high percentage of the content is ads. On a cable modem connection I have no issue with that but if I have a bandwidth limit (2GB) I'm not enthusiastic about using bandwidth to download unsolicited advertising.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Handwriting seems to be pretty straight forward > goes roght < left and so forth. Idk of a video.

It has wirless g and n for sure. Ive used both.

Use google maps and the navication part for gps for free. Uses data for maps

I know u can find said app on pmay. Just search for pic stitcher or somthing. Its like using google. Close enuff is good enuff.

Hi

I don't know about Verizon, but a few thoughts:

1) Have a look at videos by Lucidmike78 on Youtube

2) Depends on the phone model, my note2 is pretty good, but the aerials are not as big as those in laptops so the reception tends to be not quite as good..

3)GPS itself is free and there are free apps which will give you GPS data and coordinates. The cost arises when you start downloading maps - best done on wifi.

4) There are many apps which could do this and I think the built in ones could do it too at a push.

5) Not sure

6)Generally free apps have ads, paid apps often don't. To completely block ads I think you have to root the phone (which I wouldn't suggest is a good idea until you are much more familiar with how it works and what you want from it)

Hope this helps a little

Now for add blocking
If u want to block adds bigtime then root. And use rom toolbox and block adds

Further add blocking in apps. Use lucky patcher and remove google apps from applications. Resize to nil so there still there and the app wont crash there just 0*0 pixels. Pretty snazzy

Further add blocking pandora radio and youtube ect. Some modded apk [apk being an android app install file] out their. Go hunting on google.

Side note. Download an apk to your pc. Rename it randomapp.zip and look at what happens. Pretty cool huh

Yes, there are apps that allow you to use GPS without any phone or data service at all. I.e. you are in the middle of the desert or forest with no cell service, you can still have a fully functioning GPS, maps and directions, on your phone. I use CoPilot in the market. It requires you to download about 2gb of maps to your phone as a one time download. Works fine when there is not Google maps or cell service (skiing, ATV riding, boating in the middle of a lake).
