Newbie with Contacts Question

Just bought a Droid. Contact list was downloaded from gmail. It wants to puty son (Bill) and my uncle (William) with the same last name as the same contact. I have deleted William (Bill + William) and added them separately. It automatically combines them under William. Any way to fix this? Or must I blow the whole contact list away and build it by hand?

maybe throw a different nickname on them....such as son and uncle....or enter them both as William and enter Bill as the nickname for your son. I believe you'd have the option to chose how you want the names to appear. I could be wrong though.

When it mergest them together, tap the contact and then use the menu button choose 'separate' and this will separate them back into their individual contact entries.

After messing around with it for a long time I discovered that my son's skype account is William. So, knowing what's best for me, the address book decided to combine them.
