help me am a new guy to android i brought new xperia x10i yesterday only i updated it using Se update manager.

can any body make me clear about root

for what purpose root should be madr
what are the benifits

and what are custom roms.

Rooting gives you super user power. One of the things you can do if you were say on Verizon or other people that have Hotspot. You can have a wifi hotspot without paying the Verizon hotspot price.
