Hello Droid X users. I'm new to the forums and never have posted one before. I'm somewhat tech savy and am learning Droid system still. I have had Droid X since Nov 2010 came from a regular flip phone that I had for many years. Dispite the Droids rebooting issues which is a known problem I am now having even large issues. I decided to root my Droid a couple days ago using z4root. I had installed Open Garden Wifi tethering app. Worked great until I found that the stock battery drained 10-15% every 10 minutes or so. Droid battery drained within 3 hours on AC/USB power. Researched issue and found that these types of apps put a strain on battery and consumption so i uninstalled it and kept PDA net. However I am still having the same issue except it won't hold a charge when connected via usb cable. My phone heats up to a burning temp of over 100% sometimes registering 111%. I have gps, Bluetooth and wifi disabled. I don

Well first off, there is no way around draining your battery when you use the tethering. It is recommended you have your phone plugged into the wall charger if you use tethering because it drains the battery so fast. I wouldn't recommend tethering a whole lot. You could damage your battery putting a constant strain on it all the time. Not to mention heating up your cpu too much could kill the phone.

Your phone is heating up so fast because the amount of power it takes to tether. Tethering takes a lot of power to run with both battery power and cpu power. As far as a program to make a backup of your phone, you already have one, Rom Manager. Looking at your app list, I would get rid of adfree. It's know to cause glitching because it wants to kill the ads in apps and the aps don't like it...lol.
