next generation toshiba tablet slims down

While I wouldn't mind a thinner and lighter Thrive, I don't want it at the expense of

- full size ports, particularly the USB port (and a second USB port would be good)

- the large battery

- the quick recharge time

I'd also hope that it would come with Ice Cream Sandwich, not Honeycomb. And a lot fewer bloatware apps. Everything but Service Station could go.

Yeah, I know, root!

So I've been waiting patiently for the Galaxy Tab 8.9, but during my wait I have been so torn between the thinness of the Tabs and the port variety available on the Thrive and Eee Pad transformer. I just could never pull the trigger on an Eee Pad or Thrive because that weight and thickness are such a turnoff compared to the Tabs. But the AIO connector on the Tabs is such a deal breaker. If this has Kal-El, and Asus doesn't have a competing Eee Pad at the time of its launch, THIS is what I will buy.

I have a Transformer, but I'm going to return it. I got the Thrive as soon as I found out about its full size ports. I knew the AT200 is coming out, but since it'll be no full USB I won't be interested. It's not as thin, durable, and nicely designed as the Transformer, but it still feel solid to me. The idea of exchangeable battery is also important.

Maybe you should wait for the new Galaxy 7.7 version. You won't be finding any other tablet with full size USB that's for sure.

I'd still much rather buy the Toshiba tablet and use generic $2 or $3 adapters than get a 7.7 and pay Samsung $40 a pop for their adapters. Either way, Samsung said they have no plans to bring the note or the 7.7 to the US. WHYYYYYYYYYYYYY!?!

Don't forget about the full sd slot :)

Don't get your hope up. Base on the size I do not think the AT200 will have removable batt nor full size SD. The Asus Transformer is literally not much thicker than the USB port. But Toshiba will have to work on a decent dock for it. Hopefully people can atleast have a micro to full size USB adaptor to connect devices.

There are quite a lot of competition, I'm looking at selling my Thrive for the Asus Slider coming out later this year.
