Nexus 10 for Photographers?

I have been searching for answers to a few questions about using the Nexus 10 as a travel companion for photography instead of my 15" macbook pro. My basic question:

Is there a way to upload pictures from an sd card for basic work, posting, etc? If so, how and what is required?

I love my macbook pro but am actually an android phone user (HTC One X) and like what I see about the Nexus 10. Alas, if there is not a simple way to upload and then transfer to the cloud I may wind up with the Ipad.

I would appreciate any suggestions you can offer. Or is there another android tablet better suited for photography with upload capabilities but with at least 4.1 jelly bean?

If you get a USB OTG, you should be able to use memory card readers and/or flash drives.

From there, you can use ES File Explorer (which supports FTP servers, Drive, Box, and Dropbox) to copy/paste files to and from a cloud server, and to/from flash drives and other devices.

Your title scared me for a minute- I was about to go "NO DO NOT USE THIS AS CAMERA REPLACEMENT, JUST AUGMENTATION" :p

I agree that no table camera is a substitute for a dslr or even a great point and shoot camera.

Thanks dibblebill for the suggestions. If I go with the Nexus 10 I will need a clear path for uploading from my dslr/sd card. Right now, Ipad has an easy way to do that.

Yeah. ES File Explorer makes it real easy, its like using Google Drive while its installed on your computer. :-) Just copy/paste files. OTG cables are like $4-6 on Amazon and Newegg.

I find that having my N10 with me on photo trips is nice because of the photosphere.

All you need is a USB OTG cable which are less than $2 on Amazon and a USB SD card reader and you are good to go. For Apps the Nexus Media Importer will copy any files from the memory card to your Nexus 10 and then you can edit them in Photoshop Touch, Snapseed etc. and then post them anywhere you like. The OTG cable also gives you access to any USB thumb drive as well.
