Nexus 10

So its been leaked that the nexus 10 will be realeased in the "early part of 2013". The only downfall is that Google have asked Samsung to make it. Not a great fan of Samsung.

Would you guys buy it?

No, but then I already have a Transformer Prime, and this is mostly unused since I got the N7.

I suspect Google have been taken by surprise how popular the N7 is, and it makes sense to release an iPad-a-like on the back of the N7 sales. It probably didn't cost much to develop.

Same here.
However, when I had my Tab 10.1, it was a great tablet in terms of screen clarity, lightness and size. I'm not one who really wants "premium" materials for my devices so plastic is just fine. Love my Gnex, but there's also some issues with it (mainly battery life and radios).
Really wish Google would turn the Padfone 2 into a Nexus. :)

Oh gosh. Most of the stuff I've come across with Sammy generally comes with great screens (usually an AMOLED screen) and nice eye candy but for some reason, they love plasticky materials. I have a Samsung GS3 and it's fantastic, but gosh, it feels like the most expensive piece of plastic in my hand. Put it this way, if Google wants Sammy to make a 10" tablet, it would be one of the few Sammy's running on Android that will finally get updates ON TIME. Sammy is notorious for getting firmware and software updates LATE.

I really don't like AMOLED screens and sammy's materials they use to build. I won't own a samsung device in the near future.

They've actually turned it around lately. They're the best at making source available and in all likelyhood they'll be the first to get JB on a non-nexus device in the US (S3).

I'm not interested in a 10" tablet, period. I really like the 7" form factor since it seems to be the perfect combination for me of size vs usability vs portability. I find 10" tablets too awkward to hold and use, they pretty much need to be placed on a flat surface to be usable.

As far as Samsung making it, I'd have no problems with that. In addition to my N7 I also have a GTAB27 and really like it.

7" form factor is BOSS and there's really no point to a 10" tab unless it's a PC replacement. I'd like to try 8.9" though.

Interesting responses. I thought the 10" would have been if not as popular, more popular than the 7". It sounds sexy to me as I like using it for tv and stuff. I hope that it will be more like a tablet and have more features like the ipad. E.g. be able to connect to a projector!

I was playing around with some tablets at my local Fry's today, from the Galaxy Note 10.1 to a 12 inch ASUS windows tablet, and I can't realistically see myself using anything larger than a 7" device. My netbook (ASUS Eee PC) is 10.1 inches, and the idea of holding that screen in my hands doesn't seem practical. There's only so much you can do with your thumbs across a large screen while still trying to hold the device up, and one-handed holding seems like a burden.
It really shocked me, but the Nexus 7 can fit in just about any pocket I throw at it, including my basketball shorts! Anything larger would require a bag, which would diminish the whole portability concept.

Yeah, I think Goog took their eye off the ball. Just trying to get the iPad crowd, especially now that iPad has a 7" device. The 10" windows tabs from Microsoft will be "enterprise", eventually replacing desktops and laptops I believe. Although 32GB for a windows machine is pretty small storage, we all know what a hog Win is, plus the apps, etc. I'll bet getting one of those rather than the Nexus 10. Going to get another 16GB Nexus 7 too, before they're all gone, LOL.

It's curious though, everyone probably has read the story of the guy in Japan that "accidentally" got a 32GB Nexus. How could they accidentally send a 10" tab? Made me think that maybe Nexus 7 was coming out with 32GB models.

Will wait until the event on Monday, maybe they got both?

The event on Monday has apparently been cancelled due to the hurricane.

So I've been reading that the nexus 10 will be released on 13th Nov, how quick!!! I was expecting sometime next year. Bit its going to be around £389 for the 32gb one. Do you think its gonna be worth that much? Will it be more like a tablet and less like a really big phone? (Like the nexus 7). Will it have cool features like the iPad where you can connect it to a projector?

I'm sure that the Nexus 10 will be a nice gadget to have. I already have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 (provided by my job) and it can be a pain trying to read that thing in a crowded bus or train, but like others have said already, a 7" screen just seems more convenient. I can take the darn thing with me on the train and it feels comfy holding it with one hand as opposed to holding a tablet like a steering wheel to read the newspaper. I think the 7"-8" range for tablets is the perfect size for all types of tablet users.

I have to agree with most others that the 7" seems to be the sweet spot for me. The other day I was at the doctor's office with the wife and someone had a 10" iPad, man that thing looked huge compared to the 7". I noticed how the guy was twisting, twirling, turning etc to get a good handle on it. I thought, I'm glad I got the 7" size. I guess it would be nice to have around the house for the larger size.

I had an iPad 2 and thought it was a little too awkward to hold while reading in bed. As soon as the Nexus 7 came out, I sold the iPad 2 to buy the Nexus 7. For me, the 7 inch form factor can't be beat. Light and easy to handle for reading, watching movies or web surfing.

Now if this would come with VZW's LTE, it would be prefect. :D
