Help Nexus 4/5 LED

styylus

Lurker
I just ordered a Nexus 5 and I'm wondering about the brightness of the LED notification light versus that on the Nexus 4. The LED is frankly one of my favorite features of the phone, and I've noticed on the Nexus 5 I received, the LED is so dim that I can barely see when it's on. My assumption is that I have a defective unit, which I'm returning regardless, but I'm wondering if by chance, for those who migrated from a Nexus 4, if the brightness of the Nexus 5 LED is noticeably different. I'm guessing not, since they're both LG phones, but I wanted to check if my expectations should be adjusted. Thanks for any feedback.

You are correct styylus. I upgraded from a 4 to a 5 a couple of months ago and I would say that the brightness of the LED is about the same, if not a little brighter. So if yours is extremely dim then it's likely a hardware issue. I haven't tried any myself but it might be an idea to download one of those programs that you can use to change the LED colour for different notifications and seeing if they have any kind of brightness setting in them.

Thanks for the responses; I'm in the process of returning the unit. Can anyone recommend a reputable seller/source for purchasing a Nexus 5? I'm kicking myself for not buying one sooner directly from Google; I purchased this (defective) unit from Amazon, and I'm worried that the (third-party) seller is pushing defective/refurbished units, and I'd like to find an alternative.
