Nexus 4 black screen

I have a nexus 4, and when i press the power button, i get nothing on the screen, while i can hear the notifications and the calls on my phone. And when i press the power button randomly after a few moment, i get it back. What is this issue?

Could you give us a little history of the device? How long have you had it, how long has it been malfunctioning, is it stock or rooted, has it been dropped or gotten wet or otherwise damaged, etc? That sort of information might help us help you better.

it is not rooted. it happened this morning. and there was nothing wrong with the device. the thing is the device screen light is pretty dim, i can see the notifications when i tilt it, but the screen is nearly black.

It kind of sounds like the backlight may have gone out. I'm not really sure what you can do about it though. :-(
