Root Nexus 4 dies unexpectedly

Since the update to Android 5.1.1 and rooted with TWRP 2.8.6.1, I am now having my Nexus 4 die at the most inopportune times, such as taking an important picture, dialing a phone number etc., even though the battery is almost fully-charged.

In addition, when the power supply connection is checked and the phone is started, "Optimizing app x of 150" is very painful to wait for.

There is an OTA update waiting to be installed ... will this fix it, or does the phone need a battery replacement, or ...?

I don't know if my problem is coming from the same source or not but I have been experiencing Battery drain, phone shutoff and messages wouldn't send so I rebooted to see if that would fix it and up came "optimizing app #...". I too am rooted with 5.1.1. This has all been going on for the last week or so.

Just did a reset with Wugs Toolkit and so far so good. The factory battery for this phone has a bad rep. What do I know about batteries. I just want a phone that does what it was bought for. No more, no less. Anyway let me know if this improves your outlook. As I said for myself so far so good.
