Its not a ROM, its just a patch that increases the volume steps slightly higher than default. The xda thread shows how to manually do it without flashing the op's zip, but that's only useful if you know what your doing.

This patch can be used on any ROM to increase volume.

Nope, flash the zip and that's it.

It does not increase the volume very much, not like that app for the galaxy nexus, is there an app like that?

Which volume are you referring to, the speaker or headphone? I always have the volume set a little over the middle when using this mod+viper audio on some v-moda headphones.

You can increase it even more by editing the file manually. I wouldnt suggest going much higher though

Kernels like faux and franco have volume gain tweaks but they are still buggy

Oh I see...

Sadly I came to terms that the speaker on the n5 is crap and is horribly placed when playing games on this thing (my old lg motion had a much louder speaker sound than this n5).

Turn that app off and use just Xposed along with the

[MOD][GUIDE] Headphone and Speaker Volume Boost for the Nexus 5 - xda-developers

As the OP says. It really does work. As those have said though.......do NOT go above the limit set in the mod file. 93 is more than enough.

That's the same mod in this thread, you don't need xposed

Sorry.............your totally correct. Xposed was used to get the soft keys to go away.

The sound mod only needs to be flashed in recovery.

Its quite the difference :thumbup:

The goal was to make the old "max" around 60-70%

I thought it was a little too loud. So following Drummerjed's excellent directions, I "turned down" the speaker value to 91.

But I wanted to include all the support available for Android devices. I am still amazed by all the hard work DEVs share with us in this community. We are very lucky!!!

I don't know if anyone else followed the thread in XDA. But there is also a mod to double the volume steps. From the stock 15 to 30. Something that is nice for"dialing in" headphones.
