Help Nexus 5 doesn't pull in SOME group/MMS. Help me figure this one out!

Hey guys, I will give you all the info I can - I need to get this sorted out and can't for the life of me pinpoint the issue.

White Nexus 5 16GB

Android: Stock 4.4.2, rooted
Baseband: M8974A-1.0.25.0.23
Kernel: 3.4.0-gadb2201
Build no: KOT49H

Carrier: T-Mobile, prepaid
APN name: T-Mobile GPRS
APN: fast.t-mobile.com
APN type: default,supl,mms
APN protocol: IPv4 (changed from IPv6 to help with data drops)
APN roaming: IPv4

** Note: I also have "MetroPCS" and a second "T-Mobile GPRS". Should I delete these, or? **

Text app: Textra

From the information I have about who I'm missing messages from, they seem to be exclusively from iPhone users, but I don't know that 100% because.. if I miss a text how am I going to know for sure?? I know that I definitely am not receiving group texts from my mom - she keeps telling me to come back on their AT&T plan and I would much prefer to stay with T-Mo, haha. However, I do receive some group messages, just not all. Just trying to get everything correlated that I can.

I have a strange feeling it's an iPhone-to-Nexus issue here, but since I can't replicate the problem manually.. not really sure how to proceed here. Thanks for any and all help you can provide!

Curious, are you a former iPhone user? There have been issues reported when users forget to sign out of their imessage service before making the switch

I had heard that noted a few places as I researched, but I have never had an iPhone (and would never, haha).

Also read a few things about how it's a gaff on the Apple side of the formatting.

Dial 611 and verify that the settings are correct. If so, and if T-Mobile tech support finds no problem, then very likely it is a AT&T/iPhone problem.

I'll try to give T-Mo a shout after work.

I'd be very frustrated with AT&T/iPhone (yet not surprised) if it's their fault that I can't receive things.

So, weird update..

I went in and removed my cell phone number from my iTunes account (which has never had an iMessage-ready device attached to it), and I had my friends test it out. Sure enough, I can receive messages now, at least most of them. Might still have issues with pictures inside of group messages.

A friend advised me that newer versions of iTunes, at least for Mac, have iMessage built in so that you can get your messages everywhere you are. I am wondering, because my troubles started around the same time that I finally upgraded to the newest iTunes from a long stint with an old version.. did iTunes connect my cell number to the iMessage database somehow?

Could be, I have no clue. Haven't used iTunes for probably 5 years :dontknow:

Weird, right?

The timing is just curious enough, and when removing my number let some messages through.. who the hell knows. If I knew how to dig through the iTunes source code to figure it out, I might, haha.
