Help Nexus 5 phone dropped in water, please help me with this

Ok so I got my nexus 5 on November 2013. It fell in water and it no longer shows the screen properly but it charges and loads up on pc fine. Can I get a replacement at no cost? The warranty says it doesn't cover psychical damage. If I have to pay for phone again, I'm gonna get Sony Waterproof phone, no point in wasting money on something inferior. This is a picture of the background, it's meant to be one colour

My friend put his iphone in the fridge and got replacements.

No warranty is going to cover water damage. That's really no different from asking "if I dropped my phone from a third floor window can I have a free replacement?" - that's not a manufacturing fault, so why should a warranty cover it? You may be able to get a replacement under insurance though: if you don't have phone insurance, check whether it's covered by your household policy.

I assume you've tried drying it out thoroughly - at the very least turning it off and leaving it in a jar of uncooked rice for a day? If not it may be worth a try, though if you've been charging the phone and running it it's probably too late.

Can they prove water damaged the phone if I send it to them?

Very likely yes. Just about all phones have moisture indicator pads that change colour if the phone has been wet. And also when they open it up and find the logic board has oxidisation and rust. They'll know.

Does your friend pay for extended Apple Care insurance on the iPhone, because that probably does cover accidental damage. Just about all manufacturer's guarantees only cover defects in materials and workmanship, and NOT accidental or deliberate damage.

Put the phone in a bowl of rice and let the rice pull the moisture out.

This is the first thing to do also power off the device then do this step but if it's been longer than 12-24 then it may be to late may your nexus 5 R.I.P.M

As others have mentioned, manufacturer warranties dont cover damage you cause to the device. They cover defects in the manufacturing process.

If you have insurance, those typically do cover water damage (depends on your insurance provider)

Also, screenshots wont capture physical damage to the screen, as the capture is just a snapshot of what the device is sending to the screen, not actually what you see.
