Help Nexus 5 Problems

Hi all, new here. Since my Nexus 5 updated to Lollipop i can't play any videos on the phone, youtube won't play, certain apps aren't working properly and the battery is barely lasting 5 hours.i've factory reset the phone and still no joy.it's very frustrating,i paid £350 for this phone just a year ago.Anyone here with any ideas? thanks

I think the key to getting the Nexus 5 running well with Lollipop is to clear the Dalvik cache prior to the update, since lollipop no longer uses Dalvik RT. A factory reset is supposed to wipe the Dalvik cache, but i suspect you might have had some issues during the installation.

At this point I think it would be best if you were to flash the stock image and start with a completely fresh installation.

You can find instructions here. Read through them and we'll be happy to help with anything you're not sure about.

Try a simple factory reset first, and see if the problems still persist. Even if you were to ring google about your problems and try and get a replacement, they will tell you to do this.

I don't know if it's the same on your Nexus 5 as my Nexus 7 on Lollipop, but try going into Settings > Developer options, and then scroll down to the Media section. For some reason, my 7 defaulted to the experimental NuPlayer. After setting to AwesomePlayer and rebooting, my issue was resolved.

While I haven't had any issues with video or audio playback... My N5 like your N7 was automatically defaulted to the NuPlayer (experimental) as well.
Curious to see if switching to Awesome Player will help to resolve the OP's issue.

We are all more than happy to help and assist you in any way and get your N5 back on track and working the way that it should.
Once you have the adb and fastboot. exe's properly setup on your PC... The actual flashing of the Google factory images is quite easy and actually pretty quick. I've done it a few times now on my N5 (which by the way is one of the easiest devices to do it on) and the whole process of flashing the factory images can be completed in a matter of minutes, probably with in less than 5 mins.
Setting up adb and fastboot is probably the most time consuming process. Therefore, I would suggest just setting up and using the Mini-SDK instead of the full Android-SDK, which is more complicated and quite a bit larger of a program than the Mini-SDK and it's way easier to setup and get your N5 flashed back.
