Help Nexus 6 Wireless Charging

it could be that it was placed on the charger improperly causing more resistance to charging and in turn more heat.

tonight try again. restart the phone and place the phone with the "xus" part more in the middle of the choe. don't slide the phone on there.

try one more night and if the phone is hot then replacement is probably a good idea .

if you don't want two chargers, then I recommend the tilt over the two if you pare just picking one. if you want two, those are awesome chargers.

OK, I wont be returning it until tomorrow. I will try it again tonight.

in my experience, nexus charger is not recommended for the nex 6. I had it and due to the bulge on the back of the moto ,the placement of the charger is finicky . you already have the charger so no love loss there but I would not purchase it.

Google will of course post up about the charger because they are in business to sell products, and technically any qi-spec'ed charger will indeed work, but some do it better than others.

was quite frustrated with this charger and promptly returned it. I recommend the qi stone+, the choe stadium, the aukey luna, and highly recommend the TYLT. there are also some Nokia stands mentioned in this thread that are working for many but I can't lend my personal experience. I can speak about every charger above I listed because I have all of those.
Sorry for that. We will replace all your bad unit(Luna Wireless Charger) when it's new version is available. Sorry

I second the recommendation on the TYLT - I have that and it works just fine - not finicky about placement at all.
I also have the DT900 and DT910 Nokia stands too and both of them work fine. These are slightly smaller than the TYLT.

Edit: and these work fine even with my Spigen case on

I've had the same experience with the Nexus charger. Works fine with the Nexus 6 without a case, though placement is a little picky 'til you get the hang of it. But with a case...naaah.

I think it's been explained in the thread the Nexus 6 square qi charger works. I don't think anyone disputes this.

the point is there are much better alternatives out there that don't require one to specifically place the phone on the sweet spot (which is a very small area). the charging is not as efficient as other chargers, and it's just a bit too small for this nexus 6. the curve in the back of the Nexus 6 also makes this a less attractive option.

I have the Choe stadium. It has been working great for me for the last month. I have the I-biason case and it charges through the case with no problem.

Qi Charging working just fine on both the TYLT & ITIAN A6.
Still on stock 5.1 & was curious if it's normal for the NEXUS 6 to boot up when placed on a wireless charger.
Only time I'd seen this was on devices that weren't equipped with factory/stock coils & used an aftermarket tag w/the USB port.

yes its normal to boot upon being placed on the charger...
THX! :thumbsupdroid:
Wasn't the answer I was hoping for, would like the option to have the phone stay powered down while charging (wirelessly) overnight.
Not the end of the world by any stretch, perhaps there's an XPOSED Module or a ROM that has the option.

Hmmm, I'm not sure that i've even tried that. I think my N4 would stay off when charging, but don't bet the farm on that.

Hey everyone, I just got my aunt a nexus 6 and the first thing she said when she opened it was how does wireless charging work. So here I am with no clue at all! I've never used it before. So anyways what I'd the best way to achieve a quick full charge using wireless charge? When buying a wireless charger what should I look for?

And sorry if this has Ben asked I didn't see anyone else had in the first few posts....

I did not have any experience with wireless charging, so I did a thorough search of available products. I ended up buying the Itian Qi Wireless Charging Pad from Amazon (qualifies for Prime Shipping) for $12.00. It is almost exactly the same size as my Nexus 6 and quickly links every time as long as I have the "u" in Nexus in the center of the charging pad. There are no issues with the phone sliding off the pad, even when vibrating. Unlike other options, this pad includes a quality cable and a 2 amp wall adapter. The phone charges fast. When the phone reaches 100%, the pad turns off. Unless the screen is active, there is no heat generated. I couldn't be happier and strongly recommend the Itian Qi Wireless Charging Pad. ☺

Goog has a nice little section at their nexus site site about info:

https://support.google.com/nexus/answer/6073618?hl=en

if you want opinions on what charger to use, check the official accessory thread to see what others are using:

http://androidforums.com/threads/official-nexus-6-accessory-thread.875939/

post in this wireless charging thread if you have more questions.

if you want to discuss chargers, post up in the accessory thread.

some things to note:

cases will reduce the efficiency of the charging

phone will stay on (you can turn the screen off but the phone will be on/standby) whilst charging wirelessly

there are many charging options out there so I will not get into that (again check the accessory thread).

Hope your relative enjoys the nex 6!

Hopefully she has a hard time seeing and her note 2 broke so i got her the nexus 6 ( she's on my account) Cuz the large screen and the fact that she hates crapwear! She looked up that it has wireless charging and wanted to try using it! I have never used wireless charge before so I had no clue what u need to make it work! Thank for the help :)

And thaks for moving my thread to here. I wasn't sure if it would be OK to post it on this one Cuz it said support...

I've just tried one of the nexus wireless chargers and refuses to work on my N6. I can feel the pull of the magnets but charge just doesn't start

If you are using the original Nexus hockey puck style wireless charger, yeah, there have been problems with that one working with the N6, especially if you have it in a case. I use an Anker Ulra-Slim Charging Pad at work and haven't had any problems, other than making sure the pad is orientented to the lower 2/3's of the phone. If you turn the phone over, the sweet spot for the charger is right around the "u" in Nexus.

Yep tried in and out of case and just doesn't kick in. Slid phone up and down as well but nothing. Just ordered myself the Itian A6 and hope that works, if not guess maybe I have a faulty phone

Just make sure you have a decent power supply to the charger ... I'd say minimum 2 amps. I think that may have been the problem with the nexus charger ... it's underpowered.

Ok hopefully that's it. I think the one I tested was plugged in via USB to a PC although not sure.

Just hope my itian one works as I like the idea of standing up and reviews I've seen its supposed to be as good as the Tylt option

Speaking from experience with both the Itian & Nexus 6,you need a 2.0a wall adapter.
The Itian charger even states that in the fine print somewhere, may even be on the back sticker.............
