Help Nexus 7 2013 default email app changed on update?

Hi is there anyway of using the default email app before the new update changed it so that you are forced to use something else?

The standard email app has been depreciated, basically replaced by a new Gmail app. The new Gmail app is no longer Gmail-only, it will now handle all types of email accounts.

I use it for cox email. My mother in law uses it for Hotmail.
Also Google got rid of the standard email app in favor of Gmail for one reason, to make Google now smarter. If you use Gmail for all of your email needs, Google now becomes that much more useful at serving up relevant information. Since Google now only takes its info from the Gmail app.
