Nexus 7 2016

Newbie
I loved my original n7 until it locked up-bricked itself after a few years. It's been about 3 yrs now on my n7'13 and no problems at all. It's currently running 6.0.1 flawlessly. I do worry about the battery eventually giving out, but I constantly have it on its electromagnetic charger and very rarely let it fall down enough to actually need a full battery recharge. Maybe it will last forever! They do have replacement batteries tho.

If Google/Asus/whomever did a n7'16 I bet it would be a continuing money maker. The performance, the form factor and the ready and easy updates can't be beat. A new n7'16 w/a new cpu and a 64gb option would be killer!!!

So why don't they? The n9 was a flop...

Hey, glad you followed my advise. Not much life yet though. Wonder if Nexus 7 (2013) lovers are going extinct? Not much life on the dedicated thread either. (deep sigh). Found this little eye opening snippet. It gave me hope.

I did take your advice. Thanx. Indeed, where have all the 7 lovers gone? For me, the 7" form factor is just right; pocket book sized-and easily fits in a pocket. The 8" tablets seem too big for me.

I got scared the other day tho. I lost my GPS and no matter what I did, it was gone. I use it in my RoadTrek a lot. I use Sygic maps which also provides a nice dash cam using the Nexus camera while it's navigating as well.

Finally I did a factory reset and it came back. Whew! The Shield does look interesting-but gawd let my N7'13 last forever!!

Interestingly, history does have a way of repeating itself. Some phones are going back to 4.5". We can hope! :)

Also, I think the influx of poorly made overseas android tablets has dampened the market considerably. In other words, the demand just isn't that great, I wish ASUS would have continued the line. They still make a good product, my laptop is an ASUS, but they lack market appeal,

So-what's w/the N7'16 or '17..??

Who knows?

Give the developers some time. I'm sure we'll have N on the 2013.

Also, shy of recommending it, Unlocked boot, Root, and custom recovery are a great piece of mind. Makes it easier to make backups, and if the poop hits the fan again, you just boot into recovery and restore, plus you can upgrade beyond the factory OTA.

Who knows? Follow that link-or Google "Nexus 7 2016." There may be a new N7'16!

When my "old" N7'13 dies-there may will be life after death!!

I'm already saved on Google and "My Backup." Who needs N. I've got 6.0.1 already and it runs great!

But, let's have a 64gb N7'16 with an even faster processor and a super battery all even thinner & lighter than the '13..!! Just for giggles!

Suspect there won't be a Nexus 7 2016... Or a new Nexus tablet in the near future, Instead well probably get a range of touchscreen enabled chrome books, which will play nicely with the Android play store.

How can you believe "there won't be a Nexus 7 '16?" There is so much chatter if you google "Nexus 7 '16" that you believe it's all false?? Oh, the humanity!!! :(

and most of it was saying it would be unveiled at IO.... where it wasn't. The rest looks like people just wishing it would be true.

the n9 was as you say a flop... there wasn't a replacement for the N10, and the n7 hasn't had new hardware since 2013...

... on the other hand they are selling more chromebooks than Macs.. and that combined with the fact that their big IO annoucnement wasn't a new android tablet, but a new way of running android apps on chromebooks shows where their focus is.

The nexus program was never about shifting massive volumes of hardware... but it was more of getting a reference platform out there and showing off the hardware/software as google think it should be done.

So if there is a new 'nexus' tablet, my money is on it being a chromebook...

(however based on my history of predictions, there is a fair chance that pre-orders of the android nexus7 2016 will start opening next week ;) )

by the way.. if anyone is in the UK and wants a brand new nexus 7 (2013) you can get one from Argos. http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Search/searchTerm/nexus.htm

Well, my N7 '13 finally went bonkers. No new model in sight. I finally went with a '16 Samsung Galaxy Tab 8" S2 for $365 US. Expensive, but almost as nice as my old N7'13... :-((

And the Tab S2 is one inch bigger. I really liked the 7" format-the sweet spot IMHO.

Long live the N7 in our memory. Amen. :-((
