Nexus 7 2nd Generation

I am planning to buy a 7 inch android tablet. I see that the Nexus 7 2nd generation is expected to be unveiled this week and Google I/O. I have a few questions:

  1. I am trying to buy a tablet that will be future-proof as possible. Do you think the upcoming Nexus 7 is a good choice? I hear it could have the Snapdragon 800.
  2. I have a bunch of Amazon gift cards leftover. Do you think it will be avaible on Amazon?
  3. Do you recommend any other upcoming tablets?

I do quite a bit of 3D gaming so I want to make sure I can use this tablet for the newest ones as long as possible.

Thanks in advance.

Software wise a Nexus gives you maximum longevity.

Hardware wise, let's wait and see whether it is announced and if so what the specs are. It's only a few days now.

If it is announced with a Snap 800 that should have longevity as far as the processor is concerned. We're very much talking rumours right now.

I'd say judging from my experience with the current N7's performance of 3D games and graphic intensive mobile games that the next gen will be a safe bet. Obviously most talk of the new one is straight out of the rumour mill so there's no definitive answer right now. All I know for sure is that my N7 rocked every game I threw at it.

Yeah, 2.3Ghz should last me awhile, thanks.

When I bought my Nexus 7, you couldn't buy one directly from Amazon. There were lots of people reselling them there. I don't Amazon carries it because they want people to buy the Kindle Fire HD.

Since the tablet hasn't been released yet I would make a safe bet that it's going to be pretty future proof. In terms of other tablets, what's your budget?

Then I guess I'll just use the gift cards for the upcoming xbox
