Help Nexus 7 bad wifi performance / range

Lurker
I'm using this fantastic tablet for a week now and it brought quite some productivity improvements (using Evernote for note taking using a 7 inch tablet - the IPad is simply too big...) BUT ...

The Wifi range is appalling - I have an IPhone3, IPad, Dell laptop and Nexus sitting next to each other ant testet the wifi range in 10m, 20m, 30m distance from the router (NetComm nb16wv with mixed B/G/N wifi mode) - the nexus drops out at about 30 m - all other devices go far beyond that.

I changed to static IP on the Nexus, fixed the Wifi channel on the router, rebooted both a number of times - not change.

I read about wifi issues with Jelly Bean 4.1.1 - anyone experienced something like this?

Kernel 3.1.10-g52027f9, Build JRO03D

Thanks for your help!

Cheers

This comes as a surprise to me, I've always found the wifi to have very good range compared to my Dell and phone. Do you maybe have a thick case around the back?

My N7 has very good wifi reception. I used a free app, Wifi Analyzer, to compare signal strengths on my N7 and Bionic. They were very close. The app has lots of different measurements and views and may help determine if there is something you could do to improve the N7 signal. It is possible you have a faulty antenna.
