nexus 7 charger use on galaxy nexus?

the reason for the question is i would rather not have to use two different chargers all the time.

for those of you out there who may know the answer....could i use the nexus 7 charger on my GN? i noticed that the n7 charger is 2A while the GN is 1A. would that make it charge faster or would it still draw the max of whatever it was designed to? i personally am quite satisfied with how fast my GN charges up, but dont want to damage the phone or battery.

Nexus 7 Charger- DC 5V/2A
GN charger - DC 5V/1A

The battery in your Nexus is stock? 1700 to 1800 mah?
If it is, rule of thumb is it is best to charge these types of batteries at 1 times their capacity (1C).
At 1 amp that would be 1000mah and at 2 amps it would be 2000mah. I personally would not have an issue charging at 2 amps. Don't see how it would ever hurt your battery.
It is however your decision :)

thanks for the info. yeah, i use the stock extended battery...might try it out on the stock non-extended battery first just to be safe. having multiple chargers is annoying!

Charging with a charger rated for twice the current should not cause any problem. Your phone will draw the current it needs. The charger isn't going to push out more than what the phone 'asks' for.

isn't a slow charge always better for the battery (in terms of its overall lifespan)?

As a rule yes. Having said that, i have charged my Droid X every single night for almost 2 years with the stock charger and the battery is in great shape. Average use lasts well over 18 hours. The charger has an output of 850mah and the battery is only 1500mah :) (basically 1/2 the capacity)

There are a lot of chargers coming out lately that will charge the battery much quicker than the "older" ones. Most of these are 2 amp chargers and the batteries they are charging are on average 1800mah.

If he is using the extended battery, i believe it is 2000mah, a 2C charge at 2 amps will absolutely do it no harm. Longevity is another issue totally:)

My Galaxy Nexus developed a charging issue shortly after I got my Nexus 7 tablet. Since the Nexus 7 charger has more power I figured it would be the easiest way to carry one charger that worked for both. So I had started using the Nexus 7 charger to charge the Gnex. The Gnex then developed a problem problem where it was "thinking" it was charging when it was not. It was so bad that I was ready to send it back. However, I've stopped using the Nexus 7 charger and now the phone seems to have stopped this behavior. It's not scientific proof but I think my phone has a problem with the Asus charger.
