Root Nexus 7 Driver Install Problems

Hi people..

Last night decided to root my Nexus 7. Downloaded Nexus Root Toolkit v1.6.3 and started with driver installation guide.

After approximately 15 attempts, I still can't seem to install the drivers. I get to the very end of the process but when I go to the 'full driver test' it tells me the drivers have failed to install correctly.

I've followed every instruction to the letter but to no avail.

I'm using windows vista if that makes any difference.

I've tried all 3 driver solutions, starting with number 3 as recommended, but still doesn't work.

In device manager, the driver always returns to MTP

Any help would be much appreciated.

I had a similar issue and resolved it by installing the pdanet app on the n7 and installing pdanet for android on my pc (win7). I don't know why just the toolkit didn't work. I connected fine after the pdanet installs. Using mtp with usb debugging on and the original cable gives me full access to the sdcard data and fast read/write from the pc.

Which drivers are you trying to install? I used the Asus drivers and installed them manually and had no problems.
