So I'm just a bit confused on something. There is a 2013 wii only and I guess one with LTE that takes a sim card. You can attached a number to this tablet and receive text messages but not phone call, or so it would seem. Groove ip allows calls with the number attached but its not a real cell radio call. So what does this LTE version do that the wifi does not? Seems like the only advantage is to receive text messages.

I would surmise with the LTE version, you can go online, check emails, send and receive other data without the need for wifi.

^^Yup exactly this. You can get mobile data (without wifi) so it's probably recommend to use a data only sim in it although I think I've read about ways to make calls using a 3/4g tablet
