Nexus 7 RUINED my GNEX!!

kalaster

Android Enthusiast
so i recieved my tablet! :D Im very happy with my purchase thus far!

but anyway, i got to play with my new toy for 3-4 hours today, until i heard a familiar notification tone! OH! My Galaxy Nexus!! i totally forgot i had one  i turn it on to find the source of the notification, and holy cow!!! MY PHONE! IS SO SMALL NOW! The homescreens!! the apps! how did i survive on this!?!?!?

anyone else getting this feeling!? lmao, btw first tablet ever.

I know what you mean, I got the same feeling when I went from my OG Droid / D2 to the GNex. Whenever I pick those up now I can't figure out how I lived with those for so long.

PS, I'm still waiting, so I'll post back if I experience the same thing with the 7 and my GNex.;)

It's a common thing, going from the desire to the sensation, the sensation felt ridiculous for about 2 minutes. After that the desire felt like a silly little toy. Although I had kinda hoped that having a tablet would halt that creep bigger and bigger phones. The note really does feel too big.

lol. I said the same thing. 30 minutes into the N7 and then my GN looked awfully small.

This is why people complain about android phones being too big. Its because they are used to looking at their women's iphone sized devices so anything larger seems big. But after using it for a day or two, your previous phone will look tiny.

I'm feeling it too! My GNEX seemed so big compared to my OG Droid, but after just a few hours playing with the Nexus 7, it really does seem small.

I'm sure I'll appreciate that more when I'm taking it on the go and using it as a phone, but for just playing around, the 7 has definitely ruined the GNex for me.

Yeah, my Gnex is probably the smallest I could go at this point. ;)
It's nice having a variety, 4.6", 7". 10"
(alright, I'll stop now before I elicit too many TWSS comments...:o)

I'm bumping this. My Nexus S feels like a joke now that I have been using my N7 for a few hours. I'm really liking this.

I'm getting my sister in law to bring one over next month and I'm wondering whether my Note has seen its day already

Definitely not for me. My note is a workhorse

has full USB otg capabilities, hook it up to the TV via hdmi, scan documents with the rear camera (i know this isnt a note exclusive and that you can scan docs on any android phone/tablet with a rear camera, but still, it cant be done on the n7) etc.

I'm still digging my Droid Bionic, but Gingerbread is tasting a little...stale?
I'd be happy enough with Honeycomb, but now with Jellybean my phone is even more dated feeling.

It's the kind of thing that makes me want to take matters into my own hands and find a JB ROM somewhere and install it, just to keep my devices consistent.

A fella could have worse troubles I suppose, huh? :D

Ha ha! I've noticed this happening for me too. When my GNex first showed, it was definitely a step up from my N1. Then my N7 showed up... yeah. So now I'm thinking that I could do a GNote2 if it only had vanilla Android.

I suppose my bigger issue, being in that the N7 isn't a phone so I will find plenty of uses for my Note still, is how my iPad does. It already suffered loneliness issues after my note arrived.

I find myself switching back and forth. Funny how some apps are perfect on the N7 factor and some are perfect on the GNex factor. It has actually made my GNex more enjoyable and extended its battery life.

I've got my N7 set up in tablet UI and it get's a bit confusing when switching back and forth with my GNex. I'm also enjoying the better battery life on my GNex (from seldom use).

With portable hotspot enabled and unlimited data, these two devices are a match made in Android heaven.

It isn't a complete loss for phones: Just for curiosity I took my Nexus 7 grocery shopping the other day, and I can say for sure, I like using the phone (which fits in my pocket) for a shopping list much better than I like toting around the table and trying to figure out what to do with it when I needed two hands.
