So I have been trying to get a sms app for working on my n7 wifi tried mysms and can get it to connect but not send or receive a response are there any tricks to get it working

Its a question of RTFM really. You need to have mySMS on your phone as well and then to active it with a setup SMS - works OK but don't love it as much as I would if messages were free !

Try tablet talk. Much better. You need it on phone and tablet and can connect either through wifi or bluetooth.

I use bluetooth, just seems to work better with my 'Droid combo.

Mighty Text also has a tablet app out in beta. Tablet Talk would sometimes lose connection with my phone, but I've not had that issue with Might Text. Love being able to text from the N7!

I've used both Tablet talk and Desk SMS and both are awesome, Desk SMS is a little better and more reliable right now but it will cost ya after the trial.

Take a look at PopMyPhone.. Your phone can be anywhere and you then use any email program to send/receive SMS/MMS via your tablet (or laptop, or desktop, or anywhere that can do email). You get missed call notifications and a find-your-phone function.

I've been using mysms, but it isn't very reliable so far. It seems to work fine if you sign in fresh, are on the same wifi network, but if you break the wifi connection, or reboot one device, it seems to lose the connection.
Not good enough.

You can just email a SMS to a phone, just make sure you don't have a big signature ... Email to phone number@carrier ie 4019876543@tmomail.com/att.net etc. And they can reply with a text message back to your email address.

Yeah the email works but most people don't want to type in a email address on there phones I use tablet sms and it works great, no need to change anything

I'll put in another vote for Mighty Text (the name is a bit cornball). Very responsive developer too. Excellent app, works very nicely with my Nexus 7 and Nexus One.

I have no experience to share, but it looks like MySms is cross platform.

Are you able to send/receive MMS? I installed this on my phone and Nexus 7 but I can't see the MMS and I don't see any settings to change this. The description made it sound like it handled MMS. Thanks.

You can see MMS (something someone has sent you) but you cannot send any with it.

DeskSMS/TabletSMS also does not send MMS.
