nexus 7

just had a look at a mates' new nexus tablet... all i can say is that all the other OEM's doing 7in slates may as well pack up and go home!!! The End!!!

The Tab 7 has nothing on the Nexus. I sold my Tab 7 Plus to get the Nexus and the 7 Plus has some better hardware specs than the Tab 2 7". Nexus 7 hands down.

Actually no, the only thing superior about the Nexus 7 over the Galaxy 7 Plus IMO is it's quad core. The bigger storage space and camera options is still for me a better deal than a quad core which I don't really need since I don't game on my devices a lot.

Different strokes! Don't really care about quad core as Tegra 3 can be smoked by some dual core processors, but stock Android, JB, screen resolution all are more important to me than a camera or expandable storage. I know the latter really is a sticking point for folks though.

Quad core or not, the Nexus is the better tablet. I constantly found myself to be underwhelmed by the performance of the Tab 7 Plus. It was very slow to respond to touch input, slow to open apps, just generally a very sluggish tablet and it should not have been. The processor and RAM were more than capable to run smoothly but it just didn't.

I'm probably going to get my wife the Nexus 7 because it looks pretty. :p I'm going to try to get the 16gb version for her. However, I'll be keeping my gtab plus because ICS has made it a lot better than it was. Like svt, I was really disappointed about the gtab plus when I got it but I stuck with it because I got the 32gb version at a really good price.

Good times are ahead for the 7inch tablet frontier. Yay. The game never is over when it comes to technology, IMO.

Depends really on what you use it for. It's hardly sluggish IMO using it for just reading books and watching videos and browsing the net. And ICS update is out. I think you'd be able to get CM10 on it in a while. But anyway, the most impt think for me is the expandable storage. :D

except for all the people losing their mind on google play as apps and games aren't compliant yet, half of them can't do ICS right, let alone jelly bean.

Google needs to set rules for apps and games, update to complie with our new OS releases or get removed within 90-120 days.

I couldn't go with the Nexus 7 because of limited storage capacity. No expandibility, and I need my entire music collection on mine!

My friend got a nexus 7 though, they are very nice. just a few little things made me go galaxy.

Im guessing amazon will school them and add a SD slot and other options for xmas, making the Nexus 7II the one to buy ;)

Why google did that I dunno, thing should have a mini n full size USB, HDMI out and 1-2 SD slots if they wanted it to stay ahead of the game for more then 6 months.

Which is why it launched so quick, they gotta unload the first gens before xmas.

My guess for future models there will be storage capacity, especially as flash prices continue to drop thanks to SanDisk and Samsung and Toshiba and the likes. That said, the 7" form-factor is a killer size that makes it so much more usage in many more scenarios. This is the first viable android tablet, IMHO, that will gain massive market adoption.

I'm not saying whether the reasons are good ones or not. I'm merely responding to your earlier (what I took to be a question):

Now you know. You don't have to agree with it, but you do know now.

And, yes, the Nexus One did have expandable storage. That's why I said
Same reason the Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus have no MicroSD slot.

Think its because the linked article suggests that none of the nexus phones have had memory card slots......

I had my choice of a Nexus 7 or a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 and I gotta say I choose the Galaxy Tab 2.

To me the Galaxy Tab 2 felt better built and was more feature rich. When I compared specs with the Nexus 7 and Galaxy Tab 2 one thing became clear.
Nexus 7 is like a sports car its good at going fast really fast but lacks some features and more attention was spent on going fast then anything else.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 is a luxury car its not as fast as a sports car. the trade off is it has more features and little more attention payed to build quality. The Nexus 7 felt kinda cheap in my hand when I was holding the display model. I don't think it felt as solid as the Galaxy Tab 2.

I think the Nexus 7 and Galaxy Tab are designed for two different types of people.

The Nexus 7 is more for people looking for a better gaming experience at the cost of storage space.

Where the Galaxy Tab 2 is more for people looking for a multimedia device.
