Nexus from Verizon or Amazon

My contract is up for renewal and I'm ready to replace my OG Incredible with the Nexus.

Looks like it is $250 from Best Buy
$150 from Verizon
$50 from Amazon

Any reason not to get it from Amazon?

Just make sure you read the terms and conditions (as there is an extra ETF with third party retailers). But as long as you intend on keeping the Nexus for at least 6 months, I don't see why not.

Like Antimony said...Amazon is the way to go as long as you intend on keeping the line and not cancelling.

To my understanding you can change phones or "lose" your phone and activate another as long as you keep the line active. It doesn't have to be the Nexus.

Thanks for the responses.
ETF?

Why is 6 months the magical number? (I assume I will have it for 2 years like my Incredible)

AntimonyER - are you happy with your Nexus? Any issues with volume or reception?

Well its still two years with Verizon, but the Third party retailers have a shorter time period, I believe it has something to do with how they get reimbursed by Verizon for the sale...

I am pretty happy with my phone. I wish I got 4G at my desk, but the Thunderbolt, Bionic, and SGS3 also don't get it at my desk, so not blaming my phone. Jelly Bean (I have a ROM installed) is AWESOME. Volume has been boosted by the ROM, its plenty loud now. (You can also use Volume+). Its a great phone with plenty of life left, and there is just not another phone on Verizon like it.

If you cancel your line within 6 months you pay amazon an etf and you also pay your Verizon etf.

6 months is definitely the length of time it takes before Verizon reimburses Amazon for the line.
