Nexus: Learning to Live Without an SD Card

While this has NEXUS in the title (hence why I posted it here), it really applies to many similar devices.

While Apple users are quite used to (and apparently content with) not having a microSD card slot on their phones and tablets, a lot of Android users consider it a God-given right. Unfortunately, the latest (and greatest) devices coming out seem to be bereft of removable storage solutions. This includes the beloved Nexus line from Google and its affiliates.
In this article, we’ll examine the hows and whys of this phenomenon, then we’ll help you cope with the loss – which just doesn’t give any indication of ever coming back.

Surprised that a micro pen drive with micro USB socket has not been produced seeing tablets and phones are using them on a regular basis.would save using cables and a micro drive could be carried on device.

To be honest, when I first read about it I was put off. But then I didn't realise that the Samsung Nexus doesn't have a card slot either. I've been using my S2 without a card in it and I've nowhere near filled the 16-ishGB space up. Same with my 16GB Nexus 7, so I'm not too fussed bout it. I'll be getting the LG Nexus as soon as it's available!

I've used 2.5/16 gigs on my phone. Anyone that needs more space, just buy a computer. This tablet has everything you need. Memory is stupid.

Actually, you have used more than that, since the OS alone takes more space up than what you have used. But if you believe you really have 16gb to play with, I have some beach front property in Arizona to sell you.

By the way, we never thought a 250MB hard drive could ever be filled back in the early 80's. Times change and programs and apps continually get bigger. But it sounds like you don't use apps or watch movies or listen to music on your Nex7, so 16gb was probably a waste for you. Probably could have saved yourself some money and bought the 8gb version. If memory is so stupid, why did you buy the 16gb version?

I'm waiting till nearer Christmas to get one, ideally, I'd like the 32gig version to never have a space issue, but the 16gig will work just as well... couple it with google drive and amazon cloud and you should have more than enough space for movies and such. It's not like you have to store all your music and movies on the tablet at once anyway.
