Nexus One 4G ready?

Huh....well that kind of blows. So a firmware update wouldn't support it? I honestly have no clue.

Nope. 4G (WiMax or LTE) requires specific chipsets designed for those technologies. No software update will make it possible. Besides... by the time 4G is widely available, there will be newer cooler devices that will have us all pulling out our wallets again.

When 4G is commercially available, internationally, you'll be looking at the next installment in Google's Nexus productline.

WiMAX is has been commercially available nationally and internationally.

Except WiMAX will be the future of CDMA today as LTE is the future of UMTS/HSDPA today a.k.a Couple carriers insisting to not follow the standard of the world (GSM) just for the sake of being different and rolling out CDMA :rolleyes:

When the big red Verizon and the whole UMTS bandwagon jumpship to LTE, WiMax will be fairly marginalized

Don't worry, LTE won't be as widespread in coverage as 3G is right now. So, you get to enjoy your N1 toy for a little while longer.

Since there are no commercially live 4G market with VZW I don't see how it matters. Either way the N1 doesn't have it.

WiMAX is has been commercially available nationally and internationally.

Not on cell phones though. Sprint has a 4g modemn but its not 4g in the traditional sense, but its speeds faster than 3G. But there are NO phones running 4G hardware yet, but will be at the end of 2010.
