Nexus One or Mytouch Slide

HTC has a history of bad construction. The Nexus One has been anything but perfect, and the slide mechanism on the MT3G Slide is absolutely terrible (returned mine).

I know a lot of people don't trust Samsung, but when push comes to shove, they still make the best products in regards to hardware/construction stability. Motorola is no slouch either. The Droid is like a rock.

Just be prepared to use your warranty if you purchase an HTC product, that's all.

Nexus one is not crap. It's actually the best overall phone I've ever had (ive had the 3GS and now have an EVO). One thing I loved about it besides the specs was the awesome n1 community that supported it. Also does anyone know if the n1 falls into the 30 day (or however many days) window where you can exchange it? Cuz that way u can try it before you're stuck with it.

If you're gonna hold out for a newer higher spec'd phone to come out to save $, then you might as well wait for a 10ghtz super duper amoled running 8G data service. Say you wait for the galaxy s, when you pick it up, there's already talks of a galaxy 2. It never ends.

I say get a phone that you feel will satisfy what you pay for it, and don't compare it to future unreleased models. If u get the n1 & tell urself 6 months later "aww man, I shoulda waited for the galaxy", then you're never gonna be satisfied with any device. Doesn't matter how fast technology is advancing right now, if you look at it, 6 mos hasn't produced much change from my n1 to my EVO besides a crappy 4G radio, slightly better cam, and .6 in of screen.

BTW, can someone provide proof that confirms a 2ghtz phone coming out, cuz I don't buy it.

Also, this phone will shoot lasers, make coffee, and have a screen that can bend. I shall accept nothing less! In the meantime I'll just use a Nokia phone with black and white display.

Yep. The N1 seems to have made Snapdragons an Android standard, but so far apart from the Galaxy S no phone is coming out this year with much better specs. Supposedly dual-core (!) 1.5 GHz Snapdragons will be available at the end of 2010, but it'll still take a few months after that before phones equipped with those chips will be in consumers' hands. Then there're Tegra chips from NVidia, and Moorestown from Intel. Yum!

Wow, you sound more and more desperate with every post. You do realize that the argument was never about the N1 vs the Galaxy S, right?

All this being a loud, obnoxious fool and for nothing. Awww.

Bringing it back to the MT3G Slide and the N1... Price shouldn't be an issue because I'm assuming he is going to get it with contract through T-Mobile so aren't they both $179.?

For those bitching about the N1 vs. the Galaxy S...
You do realize that a phone coming out 6+ months later is EXPECTED to be better right?
We've all been there. You buy a computer the following week a higher spec'd box is released. You buy a car, the value drops as soon as you drive off the lot.

Its safe to assume that the Galaxy S is "better" than the N1. If Motorola releases a phone 2 weeks after you get your Galaxy S does it automatically make your Galaxy S a POS? Of course not.
None of us expect our N1 to be top of the heap forever, especially in Android land where new phones are released daily it seems. You have to admit though, the N1 has held that top position for 6 months and there STILL isn't an Android phone that "puts it to shame". Sure the EVO has a bigger screen, people have claimed that the colors on the EVO don't compare to the N1's. The Incredible has an 8 mega pixel cam. People have claimed that the N1 still takes better pics even with a 5 mega pixel cam.

The community has been able to do with the N1 things that no one expected. I'm almost certain this will continue. So yes the Galaxy S will more than likely be "better" than the N1 but will it be as futureproof??? You don't know because its not in your hands yet.

Personal attacks and disrespectful posting are not tolerated on this forum.

I suggest that some of you take the time to reread the rules as well as the zero tolerance policy.

Stay on topic and stop attacking each other. Infractions are coming shortly.

If this continues this thread will be closed.

Right now if you are looking for hardware longevity the nexus one is probably your best bet between the two phones,

This was my quadrant on the droid running 2.2 on 1.0ghz oc, as you can see its posting slight higher numbers then the N1 running 2.2 stock cpu clock. The slide standard has only a 600mhz processor, 3.4in screen (vs a 3.7 on n1), also the slide has a rated 6hr 3g talk time(7hr GSM talk time) vs the n1 10hr(gsm) vs 7h (3g) talk time.

In the end its personal taste, and if you dont mind waiting longer for updates, and physical vs touch keyboards. Also if you want to root the phone the n1 can do 720p video now, and Im not sure the capabilities of the slide but it probably will not match up to the nexus.

I just don't understand why he's calling it crap. Sure there's better phones out there but my n1 is anything but crap. NEVER had a single problem with it. No multitouch issues, no 3G issues, nothing. It's one thing to do your research, but its another thing to take what you hear about SOME n1s and apply it to all.

I didn't deserve an infraction. I didn't literally want him to permanently stop breathing, I just thought that he needed to stop momentarily because he seemed to be overexcited.

But on the plus side my name is a cool red colour.

Good point, but there's a rumor out there (maybe its confirmed) that on the 19th of june, t-mobile is gonna offer all their phones for free on 2yr contract for fathers day. BUT the catch is you have to start a new family plan or something of the sort. I was reading on it and forgot where I found it. Just Google it.

So if my father were to get a MyTouch Slide, would signing the contract for his added internet qualify as "a new family plan" so he could get the phone for free?

I will delete my past posts in attempt to prevent another one of these arguments. I just hate when people are being rude about a persons choice. I do apologize for getting off topic.

You know, the article was super vague. Your best bet is call t-mo.
