Didn't have the poll? Could I have added the poll?

Sorry for the repeat if I could have added to the first one.

I just got the Mytouch 4G 2 days ago and The build quality is AMAZING! That being said I do not like the Mytouch customized version of Sense on iit. Also The Speaker phone is tinny, just plain horrible. Battery life...LOL I am getting the Nexus S

and stillllllllllllllllll...the number one phone in the worlddddddddddddddd
from t-mobileeee...the myyyy touchhh 4444 GGGG!!!!

Why would one even post this poll in an Android forum? It's like saying "iPhone or Android?" in an iPhone forum... of course people will say iPhone in that case.

The question truly becomes "why?" ... which most people can't come up with an intellectual answer. I have both, so I can say there are positives to both. However, from a usability standpoint for ME, the iPhone 4 blows away the android Galaxy S because the iPhone has $30\unlim data on it, whereas the most AT&T would sell me for the Android is $25 for 2 GB... boo. ;-)

Didn't att get rid of unlimited data for ALL phones, and that people who have the unlimited data will be grandfathered in. I'm with att as well (3GS), and have the unlimited data. I'm sure if someone wanted to get on att for the iPhone4, they would be capped with data at 2 GB. Just goes to show that att is a horrible money hungry carrier.

But I digress.

I am in the process of this very same decision as well but a little different scenario:

I intend on staying with att (until my contract expires; DO NOT want to pay early termination fee), and I HATE the iPhone (it's a great phone, but not for me). So, go with Nexus S sans 3G, or got with an unlocked att version of nexus one (which is nearly extinct), or unlocked desire Z that works with att 3G.

Decisions decisions....

Yeah be it for BB, Android, WinMo, or iPhone, there's only 2 plans, DataPlus 200MB or DataPro 2GB... no more unlim. I meant to say I'm grandfathered, and don't want to risk losing it.

If you want AT&T and want the Google device, why not just get the Captivate, or worst case if you like the sleek rounded design, do the Vibrant and unlock it. I think going from a 3G back to the stone ages of 2G, you'll be hurtin.... and if you replace your iPhone with it, it'll be an uphill battle to get them to turn on the unlimited data again. :-(

I'm in the same predicament.... my only glimmer of hope for some satisfaction is knowing that AT&T is about to miscarry their baby with Verizon getting iPhone. I have no intention of switching, but it'll FINALLY make the wireless landscape competitive in the US if the rumors come true.

I totally agree that switching from 3G to 2G is a huge loss, but I actually shut my 3G off because I get absolutely NO 3g signal where I live (so basically shoveling 30$/month to att for nothing ). So not having 3G isn't a huge deal for me (at least at the moment), as I also have wifi pretty much wherever I go.

I don't want the captivate because of all the problems with it. The GPS and touch wiz, and other minor flubs I don't really mind. What I really do mind is that there are a lot of occurrences that the phone would just randomly shut itself off. I rely on my phone a lot, especially to wake me up in the mornings. If it shuts off by itself and does not wake me up, I am totally screwed (as would most people who rely on phones for alarms).

Anyways, just a lot of choices, I really want the att version of the nexus one (since it does work for att 3G), but nobody seems to have a new BNIB version of it:(

Oh and I sure hope Verizon gets the iPhone, then maybe with competition att will up their services, instead of spreading false information that they have a superior network.

Oh and sorry OP for threadjacking >.<

I'm on AT&T as well, and I'm actually grandfathered in at their original $10/mo unlimited data rate. But I've recently made the decision to leave AT&T mostly due to their lack of any decent Android phones. My current phone is compatible with AT&T EDGE only, and I'd be willing to stick it out and wait a few more months, but AT&T recently told me that their network will no longer support EDGE mode (at least not in my region, not sure if it's a nation-wide thing).

You'll want to be careful about getting an EDGE only phone, not because it's slow, but because I might not work come January 6th of next year: http://androidforums.com/t/234918-t-forcing-me-upgrade-must-read.html

LOL, data is data, regardless of how you use it. It's easy to kill 2GB of data in 2 days on 3G or 1 week on edge... so think of it as buying an amount of data, you get the same amount on edge, 3g, or otherwise :-) At least that's the way that King AT&T Almighty WANTS you to think, hah

Why would you leave AT&T for lack of Android phones? You have several to chose from, including the best-in-market Galaxy S (or whatever ATT calls their variant), or the plethora of options on the unlocked market. Of any carrier YOU have the most choice. Verizon\Sprint have the LEAST because you're stuck with their options or nothing, and they're CDMA (a crap technology if ya ask me)

As I mentioned briefly, I have an unlocked GSM Hero, but come next month, it will no longer be compatible with AT&T's network. AT&T will exchange it for a new "comparable 3G" phone, but when they say comparable, they just mean "choose from any of our messaging phones." So that's not an option. And in terms of the unlocked market, there is only one worth while phone that will still work on AT&T's network next year, and that's the Nexus One banded for AT&T, which is nearly impossible to find.

My other option would be to pick from their crappy Android offerings: Captivate (with GPS issues, no LED flash, and other serious flaws), Xperia X1 (with limited multitouch, poorly optimized UI, and 2.1 at best), or the Dell Streak (I don't want a tablet phone). And of course I'd be paying for this out of pocket.

ATT sucks. Decided to dump them on Thursday and go with someone else. I will take a Razor phone if I have to.

I can get you an AT&T Nexus One new in box or in Mint condition but they are pricey :(

Actually there are HTC Desires I can get that are AT&T compatible too let me know I will try to help you!

Pricey as in how pricey? If it's not crazy, I am interested...

And the HTC desire is compatible on ATT's 3G network?

The Nexus Ones are from $400 up to $600. the Desire that works on AT&T is from Telestra and it is on Expansys USA's website for about $700 but you may be able to find it cheaper.
