Nexus S work in Canada (with Sasktel)?

Havn't seen anything from googling, but wonder if anyone has heard about the Nexus S comming to Canada/Sasktel? I'm pretty much done with my POS Galaxy S and want to be gone from dealing with Samsung. Will spend the $500 or whatever and go to Nexus S if it is at all possible.

Sasktel says:
Will my non-SaskTel mobile device work on the SaskTel 3G+ network?

With coverage to over 97% of Saskatchewan's population, you can do more on your phone in more places. There are only two things you will need to ensure.
  1. Device Compatibility- Your device must support HSPA (or UMTS) technology and operate in the 850 MHz and 1900 MHz frequency bands.
  2. Device not SIM-Locked – Devices can be ‘SIM-locked’, which means it will only work with a SIM card from the same operator. If your device needs to be unlocked by your current/former wireless service provider, you may be charged a fee for this.

The specs I found make me think "no"... but maybe there is something I've missed re: a Canadian launch?

Currently the Nexus S only has 900/1700/2100 UMTS frequencies for 3G which is not compatible with SaskTel's network based on the information you provided. With most service providers you'd at least be able to make phone calls and use the slower 2G data network but from what I've heard, Rogers is the only service provider in Canada with 2G service. If SaskTel doesn't have a 2G/EDGE network, you wouldn't even be able to make phone calls on their network using the Nexus S.

If Google and Samsung handle the Nexus S like the Nexus One, they will eventually produce an 850/1900 UMTS version, so you'll just have to be patient.

You say you want to be "done with Samsung"...

Do you know what the 'S' in Nexus S is?

...

Samsung!

The Nexus S is literally the next iteration version of your current hardware.

Although SaskTel did come out with the new Nexus S recently, I'm still looking in to the Google Nexus S. My GF bought a rooted one that we have on the SaskTel network that works fine for data, and SOMETIMES works for calls but the majority of calls drop within about a minute or two since 'Tel started doing their "upgrades". Their tech support actually helped out quite a bit but we came to the conclusion that it might be network congestion and would just have to wait until all of their light pole towers and COWS go up. Not overly reasonable to me as her phone does it anywhere in the city.

That being said, what really piqued my interest in finding a solution is a question I saw from a Telus customer in Sask. that said Telus was blaming 'Tel for the phone not working. If that's the case, then Telus isn't just using the towers but the equipment as well to route calls. This would mean to me that 'Tel should support all of the phones that Telus supports. I'm going to do some digging and see what I can come up with.
