Nexus to S3

Could I please get some feedback from some Gnex users who now have the S3. I have been wanting the Gnex since it came out but I have heard all of the horror stories about reception and the radios, I opted to get the S3 for me and the wife to stay on our unlimited plan. I really like the S3, however I am having those doubts about not getting the Gnex.
Thanks!

Forums are a terrible place to make a choice buying a phone. Because 98% of posts on here are problems. The reality is that people come on here to complain more then to praise. Therefore you think that this phone is just one big issue when its not. That being said, when you get your phone, see for yourself if its good. And you have any problems, we can see to help you. The bottom line is that you need to try out the phone yourself. If you have major issues, take it back to your carrier and demand a replacement or trade.

Sorry I am not a Gnex user, but I thought I could contribute.

I got the Verizon GNex on launch day and spent months troubleshooting issues that ultimately never got fixed. I went thru 3 of them and they all had reception issues and were simply not reliable. I got the s3 like you to save my unlimited but more importantly I just didn't want to deal with the problems for 18 more months. When I first started using my S3 I loved it but second guessed my decision and even posted about it. But now having the S3 for over a week I van tell you there's no way I'd go back to the GNex and its battery eating weak radio bearing fry an egg on its overheating screen ways LOL. Now let me just add a caviat ... I was never a ROM flasher and kept it stock running apex launcher pro. If I was into that modding thing i would have kept the gnex. There's really no other reason to have the GNex IMHO. Plus you can get apex or nova launcher and have the stock ICS experience on the S3 and have a MUCH better camera with MUCH better battery life and MUCH more reliability as a phone. You made the right call.

Funnyusername is right you will mainly find forums with problems but i have lightly used a gnex and i like the pure android experiance and had no problems and i currently am useing a s3 debloated and i like the s3 more but if your not looking to go into all that truble and dont want lte go with the gnex.

Awesome freakin' post !!!

Another former GNex owner here, since release day. Liked my GNex, rom'd it a bit but not hard core. Let's just say I never loaded jelly bean on it.

The GNex feels like a brick, about as thick too compared to the GS3. Ok, I'm exaggerating a little, but other than the open bootloader and huge developer support, the GNex has nothing over the GS3.

There is really no comparison, hardware-wise. I still have my Gnex, but the S3 is better in every way. Better, bigger screen(and it seems much larger due to the lack of onscreen software buttons), faster performance, vastly better battery life, more storage, better camera, stronger signal. I know all of this due to my own comparison of my devices. The Gnex is a fun toy if you like to tinker, which I do, but that one advantage is hard to go with at the cost of all those other things.
