Help Nexus7 crash. wont turn back on

Hi, Ive had the nexus7 for about a week and love it so far. It runs so smoothly. However... about 15 minutes ago while playing a game it suddenly crashed. I got a purple screen, with a black bar, then darkness. I have played this game a fair bit and although it is graphics intensive, there has been no problem whatsoever til now. I was not able to turn the machine back on with the power button as usual. It has now finally decided to switch back on but its left me a bit worried. I have a ridiculously unfortunate history with dud hardware and I wouldnt be surprised if I have an abnormal issue. Is it likely to just be overheating or should I be more concerned/Return it? Im particuarly eager to hear your advice as I was considering getting the nexus4 aswell when available. The game was dead trigger if that helps. Please let me know what you think I should do. Cheers in advance

The EXACT same thing has happened to my Nexus 7. And the game was DEAD TRIGGER!
I am not yet able to turn it on..

It seems the N7 will go into some safe charging mode when fully discharged where it barely charges. You can leave it on the charger for a few hours and see if you can get it powered on. Once powered on, it charges normally. Sometimes you have to hold to power button for up to 60 seconds (really about 30 but if I say thirty folks only hold it for 15).;)

theoretically you can burn a processor out if you run certain instructions over and over again and overheating can damage electronics, if you are playing heavy duty games you should PLUG IN THE POWER!

Interesting, I didn't know that.

Right ok thanks. It seems to be running very smoothly now. The battery was nowhere near empty at the time so I assume it just overheated. Will see how it goes from here, hopefully all will be fine
